We are a small family run business designing and handcrafting leather bags and accessories. We’re dedicated to giving you the very best products, with a focus on design, quality materials and good customer service.

Nelson Were is a Kenyan born designer who is the creative force behind the brand.

He first developed an interest in fashion whilst living in Kenya. He started out making his own clothes, and then followed with designing and making shoes and jewellery to sell.

When Nelson moved to England with his wife Jenny and child he enrolled at University for the Creative Arts (UCA) on a Fashion Design Degree. Two more children later, he is a UCA Fashion Design Honours Graduate whose catwalk collection debuted at London Graduate Fashion Week 2014 and is now building his own business and brand. It was during the fashion shows in his final year that Nelson learned to make bags to accessorise his and his fellow students collections. The bag making journey began with fabric  but soon progressed to leather. As soon as he began working with leather he fell in love with it and the rest is history as they say! After uni ended the family business N.Were Designs was born and Nelson decided that he was going to start his design career focusing on bags and accessories.  Nelson and Jenny  work hard to run the studio workshop and small shop and are proud to be a family business trying to do as much as possible ‘in house’. Sourcing as many materials as possible from British suppliers they are really proud to be presenting a truly British made product. Over time Nelson has been truly dedicated to his design skills and leather craft and his reputation has spread nationwide and internationally as a skilled and talented designer/maker and he has many collectors of his work.
